The Handyscan3D is the newest, hand-held, laser scanning technology giving the user the flexibility to obtain 3D models in a fast, flexible and accurate way. Two stereoscopic cameras pick-up the pattern of reflective targets attached to the surface of the object. The software running in the background uses these targets as location reference points to calculate its position in the 3D space.
This technique is similar to the triangulations performed by a GPS, which refers to the beacons transmitted by positioning satellites. The cameras also register the individual laser points reflected from the object's surface. The VXScan software allocates through triangulation a set of coordinates to each registered point. Tens of thousands of points per second are recorded in this way, generating in real time a rendering of the surface. This self-referencing technology enables the object to be moved during the scanning process.

HANDYSCAN 3D Family
The 3D scanners of the Handyscan3D family have been optimised to the different requirements of each Client and to accommodate their available budget.
uNIscan
The cost-efficient entry-level scanner ensures high quality and reliability.
REVscan
The REVscan is the first self-positioning and truly portable laser scanner.
EXAscan
The EXAscan is the scanner with the highest resolution and accuracy of the Handyscan3D family offering utmost flexibility applications.
MAXscan
The MAXscan combines all the characteristics of the Handyscan3D laser scanning technology with large-scale photogrammetric optimisation capabilities. The MAXscan maintains high accuracy when scanning large objects, like complete cars, ship hulls, aircrafts or large machinery.
VIUscan
The VIUscan is the youngest member of the Handyscan3D family offering now 3D colour laser scanning of surfaces.
No external positioning or measuring device is needed by the Handyscan3D, making it therefore, extremely affordable.
Self-adhesive reflector points or targets attached to the surface of the object are used by the Handyscan3D for referencing.
The scanner is only connected to the computer through a Firewire, giving the operator total access from all sides and angles to all surfaces of the object.
The scanned object can be moved or tilted during the scanning process.
Ease of use:
The use of the Handyscan3D and its propriety software VXScan is easy and quick to learn. As easy as it gets!
The short learning curve to use the technology cuts down the implementation time.
Short set-up cycles - less than 5 minutes from unpacking the system to start generating scanned surfaces.
Accuracy + resolution:
The family of Handyscan3D scanners yields some of the best quality data available in laser scanning.
The different models of Handyscan3D offer distinct resolution ranges.
The polygon mesh generated by the VXScan software is optimised as a monolayer lattice.
Affordability:
The Handyscan3D, with its self-positioning technology, does not require to be connected to a measuring or positioning device, making the system very affordable.
The handling of the Handyscan3D scanner is simple and intuitive, which means the learning curve is short and steep. This minimises the training and introduction costs of the scanning system into your operation.
Although the VXScan software is based on complex and powerful algorithms to generate the 3D image of scanned objects, its operation is simple and very fast to learn. Here again substantially reducing the time necessary to obtain valuable information.
The return on investment (ROI) is high, as the acquisition and maintenance costs are low and the system becomes fully operational and productive within a very short timeframe.
Portability
The scanner unit in is transported in a case that weights less than 10 kg making it truly transportable.
The Handyscan3D scanners need only to be connected to a laptop through a Firewire giving them access to the most confined and hard to reach spaces during the scanning projects.
It is ideal for service jobs.
The scanner units are lightweight and ergonomic, maximising the productivity without causing stress or discomfort to the operator.
Versatility
The Handyscans3D scanners offer total flexibility.
No size limits of the scanned object for best results.
It works in very confined and hard to reach spaces
The Handyscan3D scanners can be adjusted through the software to scan surfaces of any colour.
