The porous surface vacuum chucks are the ideal workholding system when very thin and flexible components have to be clamped for machining or finishing. As the whole top surface of these vacuum chucks is permeable to the flow of air they offer a uniform distribution of the clamping force over the complete area of the component. Also, due to the absence of groves, holes or slots on the surface of the chuck, the distortion of the part is minimised. The top surface of the chuck can be machined to obtain a perfect parallelism with the machine axis system.

  • METAPOR© BF 100 AL; consists of a porous aluminium composite material with an average pore diameter of 15 µm and a porosity of 100%.
  • METAPOR© MC 100AL, is a porous aluminium composite material with an average pore diameter of 40 µm and a porosity of 800%. This type has the lowest air flow resistance factor making it suitable for jobs where fast clamping and release times are required.
  • METAPOR© CE 100 is a porous ceramic composite material with an average pore diameter of 10-12 µm which offers an extreme hard and durable contact surface.
  • METAPOR© INOX 100 is a porous stainless steel composite ideal for holding components where chemical corrosion can occur.
  • METAPOR© HD210 is a porous aluminium composite material which is ideal for applications where temperatures up to 210°C can be reached.

The different types of METAPOR© can also be acquired as 500 x 500 mm slabs with thicknesses from 10 mm to 100 mm. One of the most interesting properties of METAPORâ is that it can be easily machined to take the shape of the component that has to be clamped with vacuum.
